The location that showcased the sparkling jewellery works was in the former Treasure Hall of the Sforza Castle, a magnificent building that has witnessed the rise and fall of Milan's history.
Davide Rampello, chairman of the Milan Design Week jury,
Claudio Salsi, director of the Sforza Castle Museum, Isabella Fiorentini,
director of the Castle History and Literature Museum,
and other well-known figures in Milan's art scene, all highly praised the exhibited jewellery works.
"In CHARLENE, we see the profound understanding of culture and art, and the high achievements gained by the young generation of Chinese designers. We are full of hope for the future of high jewellery in China." - Davide Rampello happily said.
The design inspiration of The Imperial Palace Fan Collection comes from the fans in the Palace Museum collection. The jewellery works express the aesthetic mood of the poetry and painting on the fan surface, which is extremely complementary to the solemn and classical atmosphere within the ancient castle.
The peacock painted on the background mural of the jewellery exhibition was initially created as a sacred bird symbolizing the protection of treasures. Its agile posture now beautifully complements the elegance of the jewellery.
In addition to static displays, local models were specially invited to dynamically demonstrate the exquisite combination of jewellery and fashion. Italian girl wearing Palace themed jewellery were strolling in the ancient castle. The beauty of the fusion of Chinese and Western fashion breaks the boundaries of time and space and serves as the best proof of the vitality of Chinese cultural art.
The exhibition held at the Sforza Castle also included the same-named ink engravings by Bingchuan Leng -- a renowned contemporary Chinese artist and the curator of CHARLENE Palace's “Opening the Window to the Splendors of the World” Jewellery Art Exhibition -- as well as the original manuscripts of Qing Dynasty art books such as "Hong Lou Meng Tu Yong" and "Jin Nang Yin Lin".
